Build homemade car subwoofer

this is our 2nd (3 total) post . go to post 1 to start building subwoofer without any related knowledge :)

• Sub woofer box

Sub woofer box is a more important thing.
When you build your subwoofer box:

1. Use hard boad like MDF,plywood etc.
2. Use good glue for fix subwoofer box.
3. Use silicone sealant for seal box (don't install sub speaker until sealant completely cures)
   

Box volume is the biggest important thing.

• If you use 6 inch sub speaker the box inside volume should be near 800 cubic inchs
• If sub speaker is 8 inchs,box inside volume should be near 1100 cubic inchs
• If sub speaker is 10 inchs,box inside volume should be near 2000 cubic inchs
• If sub speaker is 12 inchs,box inside volume should be near 3100 cubic inchs
• If sub speaker is 15 inchs,box inside volume should be near 4600 cubic inchs 

Example :

if you use 12 inch sub speaker, box inside volume should be near 3100 cubic inchs as above.and if use 0.5 inch mdf  board ,

You can build box which height is 15 inch,width is 16 inch,depth is 15 inch(you can increase or decrease these value.but box inside volume should be near 3100 cubic inchs)

Then,

box inside volume

= inside height × inside width × inside depth

= (15-(0.5+0.5)) inch × (16-(0.5+0.5)) inch × (15-(0.5+0.5)) inch

=14×15×14

=2940 cubic inchs(yes it's near 3100cubic inchs.)

* We use (0.5+0.5) for ignore mdf board volume. 

Note: 

• Don't care about box height,width or depth.you should care about box inside volume(height×width×depth).if you decrease height ,you should increase width or/and depth to get right box inside volume
• Don't decrease height,width or depth more than 15cm.
